A COUPLE are touring the coast of Britain for charity using a threewheeled van.
Terry Archbold and his girlfriend, Romana Moffatt, are undertaking the challenge to raise funds for Cash For Kids.
They expect the hike, in their speciallydecorated Reliant Robin, called Monty, to take them 11 days.
The couple will head north to Scotland then west, down to the Lake District and Wales, before driving to the West Country and east along the South Coast, then north to home.
Mr Archbold, 31, who is from Sedgefield, County Durham, but now lives in Gateshead, said: “This is the ultimate road trip in the UK. We cannot go any further than this.”
They bought Monty in January at an internet auction site for £400, and friends have helped fix him up mechanically and carried out a garish pink and green paint job.
Monty now has his own profile on social networking site Facebook, and a group dedicated to the journey so friends and family can log their progress.
Mr Archbold, a customer services manager, said: “We hope he is going to become one of the most recognised three-wheelers in the country.”
