A FOUR-year-old boy was in hospital tonight in a serious condition after he was injured in a car crash.
The boy's mother and 11-year-old sister were also hurt in the three-vehicle collision, which happened this afternoon.
The incident happened on the A1 slip road near RAF Leeming, North Yorkshire, at Junction 47.
The cars involved were a grey BMW, a white Honda Accord, and a red Fiat Bravo.
Road ambulance crews were joined at the scene by the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS), who airlifted the injured boy to the James Cook University Hospital.
The boy was suffering from abdominal and pelvic injuries.
The extent of his injuries were not known last night but they were described by GNAAS paramedics as "serious".
The boy's mother and sister are not thought to be seriously injured.
