DISADVANTAGED people look set to benefit from the fundraising efforts of the new chairman of Ryedale District Council in North Yorkshire.
Coun Di Keal, ward member for Norton West, has chosen Next Steps and Jessie’s Fund as her charities for her year in office.
Next Steps is a resource centre run for and by people with mental health problems in the district, while Jessie’s Fund is a charity helping seriously ill and disabled children by using music as a form of communication and for therapy.
"Both my chosen charities are aimed at helping people who face huge obstacles in their lives and I hope that my year in office will give them the chance to boost funds and raise their profile in the Ryedale community," said Coun Mrs Keal.
