FLIGHTS to Mexico are being re-instated from the North-East's biggest airport.
Newcastle International Airport's flight programme to the resort of Cancun will re-commence on Monday after a three-week cancellation due to fears over the swine flu outbreak.
An airport spokeswoman said the decision to reinstate the Cancun flights, through tour operator Thomson, was made following the latest advice from the Foreign and Cmmonwealth Office (FCO).
As of Wednesday, the FCO no longer advises against travel to Mexico.
"As a result Newcastle International Airport's flight programme to Cancun with Thomson will re-commence, with our first outbound flight on Monday, May 25.
"Customers booked on flights to Cancun from Newcastle from May 25 onwards will be contacted by Thomson's Customer Services team if there are any changes to their original itinerary in regards to their accommodation or flight date and/or time."
The outward flight to Cancun will depart Newcastle at 9.50am on Monday, for arrival at 8pm.
Thompson cancelled flights to airport at the end of last month, affecting outbound services from Newcastle from May 8, amid fears of the spread of swine flu in its early days.
