THEY ruled the world for 200m years and now they’re back- dinosaurs roam the earth again.

In a show 65 million years in the making, Walking with Dinosaurs- the Arena Spectacular, based on the BBC TV series, brings the giant creatures back to life in a theatrical show that lets the audience get up close and personal.

More than 15 life size dinosaurs take part in the show, including a 36-foot high, 56-foot long mother Brachiosaurus and her 48-foot long baby, who are new additions to the UK leg of the tour.

The pair were on display in York yesterday, standing next to a double-decker bus to show their enormous size.

The infamous T-Rex , which at 1.6 tons weighs more than a family car, also stars in the 90 minute show.

Each of the ten large dinosaurs are controlled by three puppeteers and need 12 truck batteries to power them.

Five smaller dinosaurs, including Utahraptors and a baby T-Rex, are performed by actors in specially designed suits.

The £10 million show has been seen by more than a million people world-wide since it’s creation in 2007.

The tour visits the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena between July 7-12 and Sheffield Arena on July 22-26. Tickets are priced between £20 and £35.

The show is suitable for children and adults of all ages, but more sensitive viewers may prefer a seat towards the back of the arena.
