A SCHOOLS use of a state-of-the-art online learning platform has been recognised by a national award.
Staindrop Business and Enterprise College uses the Fronter system to relations between itself and schools from across the world.
At the Fronter Awards, held at Arsenals Emirates Stadium in London, the school picked up the National Implementation award.
The school received a crystal trophy as well as a Dell Asus mini laptop.
Students at Staindrop use the tools provided on the Fronter platform to make contact with students from Germany, France, Zambia, Jordan and Japan.
"We wanted to create a safe, online area in which enrolled students could communicate using technological advances to showcase our school and to assist in their learning about other culture," said Brian Kinnair, headteacher at Staindrop Business and Enterprise College.
"We have harnessed available technologies in our learning platform utilising several of the tools, with students. "Students, from both home and abroad have then been able to adopt the tools for their daily communications."
