A FAMILY are preparing to engage in an epic battle along one of the world’s most famous frontiers.
Liz and Richard Walsh, from Durham, will join hundreds of other reenactors in the seven-day Living Frontier event along Hadrian’s Wall, from Sunday.
Re-enactments will include Romans, Border Reivers, Vikings and Civil War troopers.
Mrs Walsh, a mother-oftwo, said: “You can only really appreciate how authentic and impressive the re-enactments are when you witness one, and this will be a really major event.”
She sings in Anglo-Saxon and often plays authentic instruments from the time.
There will be events at sites along the wall, with a large pageant in Corbridge, Northumberland, on Saturday, May 30.
Mr and Mrs Walsh are members of re-enactment society Regia Anglorum, which provides Anglo- Saxon, Viking, Welsh and Norman re-enactors.
Regia Anglorum will recreate a Viking encampment at Arbeia Roman Fort, in South Shields, South Tyneside, including a Viking longboat on show.
The festival website is at livingfrontier.com, or call 01434-322002.
