POLICE investigating the death of a North-East mother-of-three said tonight there are no suspicious circumstances.
Sheena Foster, 40, from Shildon, County Durham died in hospital on Tuesday morning after her life support machine was switched off.
Ms Foster was taken to Bishop Auckland General Hospital last Thursday with unexplained injuries, believed to be a broken arm and bruised face.
Doctors told her family she was too ill to undergo surgery, and she was transferred to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough on Monday evening as her condition deteriorated.
Her mother and stepfather, Barbara and Ronald Woolley, were faced with every parents' worst nightmare on Tuesday morning when they were told she could not be saved.
A post mortem was carried out this afternoon.
Tonight Detective Inspector Billy Hugill said: "As a result of the post mortem, there are no suspicious circumstances in relation to her death.
"There is no police inquiry in relation to the matter. There will now be a coroner's inquiry."
A 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assault has been released from police custody.
