HUNDREDS of people enjoyed a boxing club’s sports dinner and show and helped raise money towards a trip to the Mecca of Boxing.
Spennymoor Boxing Academy took on a combined Army and North-East Select team at the event, watched by a 500 capacity crowd at Spennymoor Leisure Centre on April 24.
Spennymoor boxers Josh Plummer, Jake Daley, Matty Stephenson, Grant Crooks, Reece Ellis and Joel Spragg all won their bouts in a close fought competition that ended 6-6.
Director of coaching, Robert Ellis, said: "I am extremely proud of this club, with our dedicated coaching staff we are taking this club to another level.
"I would like to thank all our sponsors and fans for supporting us during the credit crunch, and would like to thank everybody who has given donations for our Las Vegas trip in September."
The club plans to take around a dozen boxers and four officials to compete in Las Vegas, America, after establishing links with a similar gym in Nevada.
