A CHORISTERS group celebrating its 40th birthday is to perform a concert of music by composers marking an anniversary this year too.
The North Yorkshire Chorus is to celebrate the landmark with a concert at St Mary’s Church, in Thirsk.
Music by classical composers from the 17th and 18th centuries is to form the basis of the concert on Saturday, June 6, at 7.30pm.
Haydn’s Maria Theresa Mass will be the main performance and it is being played to mark the 200th anniversary since his death.
Music by the English composer Henry Purcell, born 350-years-ago this year, will also be performed including Come Ye Sons of Art.
There will also be music by William Byrd, Giovanni Pergolesi and Orlando Gibbons.
Tickets are £10, or free to under-16s accompanied by an adult, and they are on sale from 01845-537244 or on the door.
