TRADE unionists fighting the proposed privatisation of the Royal Mail will be seeking support in Durham City on Monday (may25).
Members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) will be in the city’s market Place from 8.30am to noon with a 20ft-high red pillar box, seven foot postcard and public petition.
The visit is part of the union’s Public Posted tour of the region.
Area representative Tom Clark said: "Durham residents deserve a first class postal service.
"Privatising Royal Mail would undermine the public service we all enjoy and leave us with a second class service.
"Royal Mail is a successful business which makes a million pounds every day. Privatising it just doesn’t make sense."
