He trains five times a week, has won three British championships and has this year competed in Sweden, Belgium and Holland.
He is also part of the club's demo team that performs across the country and has appeared on television.
Jamie, a pupil at Spennymoor School, has recently been for international trials and hopes to win a place on the GB squad to compete in the European Cadets tournament in Croatia this summer.
He said: "I enjoy it and just want to keep competing for the club and hopefully country, I aim to represent Great Britain in the Olympics maybe 2012 or the next one."
Jamie's enthusiasm for the martial art is shared by the rest of his family as he followed brother Scott, 17, into the club and his mother, Amanda, and Sister Simone, nine, also take part.
