A BOOK that chronicles Chester-le-Street during the last century has been re-published after being out of print for eight years.
Local historians Dorothy A Hall and George Nairn brought out Chester-le-Street - The Twentieth Century in 1999 and published a second issue in 2001.
Because of enquiries from the public and second-hand copies being sold on the Internet auction site e-bay the pair have decided to bring out an updated edition.
Mrs Hall said: "We thought it was a good idea to re-print it because the photographs are still very relevant to the history of Chester-le-Street.
"Both George and I have had enquiries , as have The Bookcase, and a copy went for something ridiculous like £29 on e-bay.’’ One thousand copies have been [produced for the latest run.
The book, published by Summerhill Books, costs £9.99 and is available from The Bookstore, Front Street, Chester-le-Street and from O’Brien newsagents shops in Ashfield Terrace and North Burns, both in the town.
