West Side story is celebrating its 50th anniversary of the how being on the stage. This epic musical is base upon the Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet also there are some traces of Grease. There are traces of Grease because of the two rivalled gangs that are in the show that are similar to the T-Birds and the scorpions, the play is based upon Romeo and Juliet because the two main characters Tony and Velma are in two different gangs and can not show affection towards each other. This dramatic story take place in the back streets of America where to gangs the Jets and Sharks are two rival gangs that are fighting for the same spot. A fight will take place to determine the person who will own that spot, but being an American drama and a musical romance will take its place on the stage. Love will take its toll on the lead Tony and Velma. Both are of the separate gangs, Tony the founder of the Jets and Velma who is betroved to Chino Bernardo’s right hand man. But she falls head over heels in love with Tony, but it can not be. At the end of the story Riff (lead of the Jets) and Bernardo (lead of the sharks) die and Tony does to right at the end. Jessica Smith :)
This show is the show to go and see it has every thing from a touch of comedy to very violent scenes and to the love story that will steal people’s heart away. There is plenty of dancing singing and general entertainment for an afternoon out.
