YOUNG footballers are being urged to enter a new five-a-side football tournament - designed specifically to reduce unruly behaviour.
The event is part of a series of actions to reduce anti-social behaviour in Northallerton.
It has been organised jointly for 11 to 17-year-olds by the police, 4 Youth and the North Riding County Football Association.
"We are hoping this event will go some way towards reducing anti-social behaviour in the town," said Sergeant Simon Wilson.
"We want to see as many young people as possible playing - with their families and friends coming along to support them, making it a real family day out."
The event takes place at the Applegarth Park on May 31 from 2pm to 6pm. Teams of six can enter in two age groups – 11 – 13 years olds and 14 – 17 year olds. Mixed girls and boys teams are welcome in the younger age bracket.
To enter a team collect a form at insite@connexions, Allertonshire School (west reception) or Northallerton College reception. Entries must be lodged by May 22.
