A CELEBRATED musical ensemble will be placing the spotlight on heaven and earth in a concert next week.
Musicon will present Exaudi: Heaven and Earth at St Oswald’s Church, Church Street, Durham, at 7.30pm next Wednesday (May 27).
The ensemble typically works as a consort rather than a choir - usually one voice to a part, ranging from three to sixteen voices.
It draws inspiration for its sound from that of early music ensembles, a strong and focused tone that is also ideal for the performance of harmonically intricate contemporary music.
Exaudi programmes combine the new with the old, and the ensemble is equally in demand for its performances of music of the High Renaissance and early Baroque.
The programme for the evening includes works by Byrd, Scelsi, Tallis, Part, Toovey and Sheppard.
The event is in association with Durham University’s Centre for Contemporary Music.
Tickets are £10 and concessions at £5 and £1.
