VILLAGERS who enjoyed a traditional annual fair packed with activities at the weekend are already looking forward to next year’s event.
Hundreds of people turned out for activities and family entertainment at Sedgefield medieval fair in Sedgefield Village, on Saturday.
The event opened with a parade of children’s tableaux led by flower queen, eight-year-old Ellen Gowland, and her attendants in a horse drawn carriage.
Residents and visitors from across the region enjoyed attractions including dancing, a fun fair, stalls, living history and falconry displays on the village green and at Ceddesfeld Hall.
Two of the biggest crowd pullers were tug-o-war competitions for all ages and a fancy dress competition.
Wendy Gill, chairman of the organising committee, said: "The opening parade was lovely, the flower queen and attendants thought the horse drawn carriage was wonderful.
"All the other attractions went ahead as planned and proved popular."
After a successful day, hosts Sedgefield Community Association are already turning their attention to the 40th medieval fair next year.
