A VILLAGE will hold its traditional annual fair tomorrow.

Sedgefield Community Association hosts the 39th Sedgefield mediaeval fair with family entertainment and display on Sedgefield village green and in the grounds of Ceddesfeld Hall.

The event will start at 9.45am with a parade of children’s tableaux led by the flower queen, Ellen Gowland, and her attendants in a horse drawn vehicle. Attractions will include Punch & Judy shows, a fancy dress competition, dancing with Black Sheep Morris, Durham Rams Morris and Sedgefield County Junior School.

There will also be a tug of war between village pubs, community groups and junior teams, a fun fair, side shows and stalls.

Ceddesfeld Hall and park, on Rectory Row, will host displays including Rosa Mundi living history and Ridgeside Falconry and serve refreshments.

Association president, Allan Smart, said: "Organising a large event of this kind takes a lot of planning and expense and the community association is grateful to many local businesses which offer support year on year, especially John Kelly who recently took over the Hardwick Arms and has given his full backing to the fair as its main supporter."

Many local businesses also support the fair which raises money towards the upkeep of Ceddesfeld Hall which is a Grade II listed former rectory and well used community building.
