A group of budding bowlers and batters are celebrating success at a regional cricket competition.
The girls team from Parkside Sports College, in Willington, battled it out at the U15 Lady Taverner’s Indoor Regional Finals at the Headingley Indoor Stadium in Leeds last month.
The first match saw Parkside immediately make their mark with a convincing victory against Cheshire.
Parkside faced tough competition with Yorkshire, however, who last year made national finals.
Despite losing the girls ended the game only 24 runs down and with the same number of wickets as their opponents.
The girls went on to beat Northumberland and Lancashire and finished finished the day as runners up Yorkshire winners.
Nicola Boomer, assistant subject leader for PE at Parkside, said: “Lucy Pringle, Lauren Frame and Laura Ellison in particular bowled and batted consistently well and through their communication with the remainder of the team made some tactical decisions which increased runs and took wickets.”
