SEASIDE town Scarborough is in the running for a major national award, just days after winning a prestigious European enterprise award.

The Yorkshire resort has been selected as one of three finalists for the Great Town Award by the Academy of Urbanism, which recognises the best, most enduring or most improved urban environments.

Just days ago the town was named the overall winner of the European Enterprise Awards in Prague for it’s work to improve the social and economic fortunes of it’s residents.

Scarborough will compete against Cambridge and Chester for the title, which will be awarded at a ceremony in London in November.
