TWO former leading figures at Darlington FC have reopened talks in a bid to save the administration-hit club.
Former vice-chairman Raj Singh has confirmed he met the Quakers ex-chairman, George Houghton, earlier this week.
Mr Singh said the talks were reopened after Mr Houghton approached him.
Only last week, any chance of a deal between the pair appeared to have passed. Mr Singh’s bid was described by the administrators as “unworkable”.
Mr Singh said: “I had a meeting with Mr Houghton earlier this week. That’s about it.
“I would described it as constructive and that’s all I would like to say at the moment.”
It is unlikely for any deal to be finalised until next week at the earliest, despite the urgency for the club to be rescued.
A Football League spokesman said yesterday the league’s board is monitoring progress of the Quakers’ administration to ensure the club can be accepted into the league next season.
The Football League’s annual meeting takes place on June 12 and the fixtures are due out five days later.
Mr Singh made two previous bids as part of a consortium of three, but withdrew one and had his second offer rejected.
Mr Houghton was unavailable for comment yesterday.
