A RESTAURANT firm has been unveiled as a cathedral’s latest corporate partner.

Oldfields Noted Eating Houses has signed up to support Durham Cathedral’s work in heritage, education, tourism, arts and culture and community work.

Oldfields has restaurants in Durham and Newcastle.

The Dean of Durham, The Very Reverend Michael Sadgrove, said: “Oldfields is a key feature in the gastronomic landscape of Durham City.

Cathedral people are frequently to be found dining there.

“I am delighted that Oldfields is joining our growing body of corporate partners.

“We are most grateful for their support and look forward to a long and, if the word can be forgiven, fruitful relationship.”

Bill Oldfield, founder of Oldfields, said: “It’s an honour and rather awe-inspiring to be associated with Durham Cathedral and the myriad of passionate people involved with it.

“I know it’s a cliche, but the cathedral’s a national treasure and the more people that support it the better.”

Durham Cathedral has a £7m five-year development plan. Other corporate partners include minerals and transport operator Hargreaves Services, and rail company Chester-le-Track.
