MORE than 1,150 women took to the streets and raised £94,000 for charity in a Starlight Stroll.
The seven-mile walk, in aid of Teesside Hospice, took place from 10.30pm on Saturday in Redcar, east Cleveland. The women then set off with BBC Radio Tees presenter Diane Youdale, better known as TV gladiator Jet.
Jane O’Byrne, from the hospice, said: “The event was an overwhelming success, which we hope to build upon next year. To raise £94,000 through one event was fantastic and I would like to thank every walker and all the volunteers.”
Hospice chief executive Maureen Thompson, who completed the walk, said: “The atmosphere among the walkers was electric, it was so much fun.”
