A NEW chairman has been appointed for Hambleton District Council.
Councillor John Smith has taken over as civic leader of the authority for the coming year.
He has been a district councillor since 1998 representing the Romanby ward. He will be accompanied by his wife Joan during his year of office.
Councillor John Fletcher, a ward member for Great Ayton, was made vice chairman.
