EAST Durham College will be holding an open day at the weekend.
The annual event will be held at the college’s Houghall Campus, on the outskirts of Durham City, from 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
There will be a variety of events held within the Equine Arena with thrilling displays of student equestrianism and animal care handling skills. The events include Equine Musical Drill Rides to Thriller and War of the Worlds, dog agility and a Horses at Work Parade.
The equine costumes were all designed and created by Rachel Lumsden, 18, of Durham - a Level 3 Advanced National Certificate student.
Anne Symons, leading the Equine section of the Open Day event said: “I am overwhelmed by the commitment and professionalism displayed by Rachel, having produced all the costumes within her own time.”
Fundraising activities led by Toni Ford, 18, of Sunderland, a Level 2 National Certificate student, including car washing, coffee morning and a staff performance of Spicey Girls Anne said: “Students from all levels within the Equine Unit have displayed unquestionable motivation and enthusiasm.”
