A FARM shop has helped a group of Girl Guides beat the credit crunch and raise money for a trip to Mexico.
Members of 1st Kirkby Hill Girl Guides approached The Newby Hall Farm Shop, in Boroughbridge, to ask for a donation towards their trip of a lifetime.
Instead farm shop manager Mark Maxwell offered them the chance to earn the money by taking over the shop for an hour on a busy Saturday morning.
He said: "The guides came to me and asked if we could help them.
"Rather than just increase the size of our initial gift, I asked if they would be willing to work and earn the extra cash."
After costs the Guides made £200 during their hour in charge, which was presented to them by Mr Maxwell.
