SUNDERLAND reserves rounded off their leaguewinning season in style with a 2-1 win over Liverpool, writes NEVILLE PILKINGTON.

The Black Cats had the better of the first period, taking the lead one minute before the interval through Jordan Laidler.

Michael Lamb played a good ball out of defence to find Laidler and the lively winger from North Shields cut in to fire across keeper Chris Oldfield.

The Merseysiders equalised on 70 minutes when John Flanagan rose to head home from a corner.

However, Sunderland got the winner five minutes later from a set-piece.

James Armstrong hitting a 25 yard left-footer which Oldfield got both hands to, but fumbled over the line.
