Firefighters were called when a central heating boiler caught fire in a first floor room at Burnhope Close, Crook, on Saturday night. Two crews turned out when the alarm was raised at 8pm and stayed for almost 40 minutes. Earlier, at about 1pm, firefighters in Ferryhill Station had put out a small kitchen fire at a house in Commercial Street.
