A COUNTRY pub has re-opened, to the delight of local residents, after being closed for almost two months.
The Greyhound Inn, at Hackforth, near Bedale, North Yorkshire, recently opened its doors again, under new manager Cindy McAulay.
The re-emergence of the long-established inn has been welcomed by locals.
It has been made possible by pub company London Town, which is running a successful campaign of pub re-openings throughout the country.
Despite a trend towards pub closures, London Town focuses on identifying outlets which it believes have a viable future given the right management input and logistical support. It has already re-opened 125 pubs, creating over 500 jobs in the process.
Ms McAulay said: "I believe that the pub should be at the heart of the community, since it epitomises all things associated with a traditional country pub; real ale, open fires, traditional food and pub games "We have deep cleaned the whole place and I'm really excited about the future of the pub.
"As well as darts and dominoes competitions, we will be making the most of our great quoits pitch and have entered a team in the local league.
"There will be food served and our luxurious en suite guest rooms will be available shortly.
"We hope The Greyhound's old oak beams and country views will encourage more tourists to visit the area."
The pub can be contacted on 01748-811415.
