National Basketball in association with Game Time & Ravenwood Roofing in Hartlepool & Teesside (01429 291793)
Following the exciting and thrilling climax to the unlikely win over Team Northumbria two weeks ago, Lions face another tough test at home to American side; Menwith Hill Cavaliers this Sunday at Eston Sports Academy. Spectators are asked to arrive before 3.30pm to be seated for the team intros. Tickets are now on sale, although a special offer of only £2.50 per person instead of the £8 adult fee can be secured by calling Game Time on 01642 814221.
The Cavaliers have already tasted defeat at the hands of Middlesbrough this season with a 12pt loss in November. The Americans though were without a few players and self admittedly were out played by the Lions. This time around, Coach Charlotte Evans will be looking for a tougher display from her troops and with the American servicemen from Menwith Hill aiming to avenge the earlier defeat a real treat of a game is in store for the fans.
Lions will have a few new faces in the team with players looking to impress as the club begin preparations for next season. One new face will be in the form of the first new signing, who will be revealed live on radio tonight on BBC Radio Tees 95FM at 7.30pm. Coach; James Thomson and the new player will chat with Ali Brownlee about the big game and what’s to come for next season.
Children in the audience will have the opportunity to enter the half time kit dash to win a prize and adults will be pleased to know that the ticket holder of the half court shot will be shooting for £100 instead of the usual £50 thanks to Hartlepool company; Ravenwood Roofing whose owner; Kevin Smith attended a previous game and was more than impressed with how professional the Middlesbrough Lions were. “Middlesbrough have a big support base, a good team and an excellent facility, hence we are eager to establish a relationship with the club which will help promote a healthy lifestyle for young people.” Added Mr Smith.
