I've just been talking to Darlington FC's assistant manager Martin Gray who's just been "sacked" by the administrators.
Understandably, Martin is deeply disappointed that his loyal service to the club has ended in this way, especially after he was so instrumental in organising Sunday's fundraising match featuring Paul Gascoigne.
Martin is destined to join Dave Penney at Oldham next week anyway, but he'd hoped to be able to resign from the club with dignity, with everything resolved amicably. That can't happen now.
The future looks bleaker than ever for the Quakers tonight with the only bid on the table - from Teesside businessman Raj Singh - being described as unworkable by the administrators.
Outgoing chairman George Houghton won't accept the terms of the bid and Mr Singh's position is "take it or leave it".
It's a stalemate which threatens the existence of Darlington FC after 25 years and that's very sad indeed.
All we can hope is that the main protaganists can get round a table and come to an agreement which gives the Quakers a future.
As it stands, no one wins.
