HUNDREDS of bus pass holders will help others while on a day out tomorrow.
The Durham Lesotho Link group will hold a sponsored Great North Bus Challenge from 9.30am to 6pm tomorrow.
Those taking part can choose where they go, with 20 checkpoints across the North- East – all easily accessible by bus. At each checkpoint, they will pick up a stamp and points, with a prize of two standard class return train tickets to London for the person who accumulates the most points.
The prize has been donated by Chester-le-Track, at Chester-le-Street Railway Station.
There will be checkpoints in Barnard Castle, Bishop Auckland, Chester-le-Street, Consett, Crook, Darlington, Durham, Gateshead, Hartlepool, Jarrow, the Metro Centre, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Peterlee, Sedgefield, South Shields, Stanhope, Stanley, Stockton, Sunderland and Washington. People can start at any checkpoint.
All funds will go to build an education centre in Lesotho, South Africa, for students and youth and adult church groups. It will also be used by visiting groups from Durham.
