A MAN arrested in connection with the death of a young father has tonight been charged with causing grievous bodily harm.
The 21-year-old man from Chilton, County Durham, handed himself in to Newton Aycliffe police station with his family on Sunday.
He is due to appear before magistrates in Newton Aycliffe at 10am tomorrow morning.
Officers had wanted to talk to him in relation to the death of 28-year-old Neil Paul Jones, who was assaulted at a house in West Chilton Terrace, Chilton on Thursday.
Paramedics attended to Mr Jones in a downstairs room of the house, but despite attempts to revive him, he died shortly after being discovered. The cause of his death is still not known.
Mr Jones, from Bedfordshire, was married and had one daughter, Nicole, four.
Late last week more than 30 officers investigating the case were involved house raids in Chilton and Newton Aycliffe.
Anyone with information should call police on 0345-60-60-365 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
