Regulars to the Middle House, will recognise this quite brilliant adaptation, of steel erectors, working thousands of feet in the air, in 1930s Chicago.
Joe Kirby was telling me that it’s used at the start of all his firms’ safety videos, to demonstrate how bad things used to be.
If you look closely though, you will see that the ‘heads’ of the real workers, have been replaced, with the heads of a few Cockfield lads.
The picture was ‘doctored’ by Brian Steen. A man with a passion for both photography and computing. Brian’s been out of fettle lately, and we don’t see him out much, so I hope you get well soon mate.
Brian’s captured the head angles perfectly, and to my mind, used the right lads ‘image’ to re-create the original.
Just notice how Ronny’s cadging a light, and Jack’s got a drink in his hand.
As for me, I look like a bloody Meerkat!
Anyway, the lads in the picture are, from the left; Ronny Kelsey, Robert Gamble, Joe Kirby, Nigel Dowson, Tony Davison, Peter Allison, Graham Darnell, Russell (Tupper) Leonard, Vince (The Prince) Bradwell, Brian Steen and Jack Darnell.
