PUPILS have headed back to the era of rock and roll as step in to John Travolta and Olivia Newton John’s shoes to perform Grease.
The youngsters at Queen Mary’s School, at Topcliffe, near to Thirsk, are to perform the smash hit musical.
The show’s cast have been working hard to perfect the 1950’s style dances and music and they even have a Grease Lightning car.
The musical is to be performed at the school on Wednesday, 13, and Friday, 15, May to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Teacher Anthea Shepherdson said: "The girls are just loving the rehearsals. It’s such a vibrant, fun show that they got into the spirit of it straight away.
"Every pupil will be singing and dancing at some point. The energy and commitment which they’re putting into this is tremendous.
"Some of them have been working out their own dance routines and choreography, as well as adapting and sourcing costumes.
"We’re even bidding on Ebay in the hope of getting a 50s style Dancette record player to use on stage."
The performances are open to all and begin at 7.30pm with free entry but there will be a collection for the charity.
