A GROUP of cancer survivors is urging people to join them on a 24- hour fundraising run.
The runners, all from Redcar, east Cleveland, will be taking part in the town’s third Relay For Life in aid of Cancer Research UK.
With only five weeks to go, they are encouraging people to sign up and get their running shoes on.
Among the survivors taking part are Sharyn Clarkson, who has overcome breast cancer twice; Winfield Stewart, suffered from prostate cancer; and Adele Pickavance, who also overcame breast cancer twice.
Mother-of-two Mrs Clarkson said: “Many of us have been affected by cancer in some way and we would welcome anyone from the local community who would like to get involved.
“With five weeks to go before the event, we are particularly keen to hear from any work colleagues or groups of friends wanting to form a team and take part.”
The group is also encouraging other cancer survivors to join in the “Lap of Honour” which opens the event at noon on Saturday, June 6.
For more information on how to take part or get involved with the Redcar Relay For Life, call Mrs Clarkson on 01642-487230.
