A LOCAL cheesemaker is to boost the region’s economy by launching its latest product at the Dales Festival of Food and Drink.
The Wensleydale Creamery, at Hawes, is to launch its new recipe Real Yorkshire Wensleydale with Pineapple on home territory.
The latest addition to the company’s brand, named Pineapple Twist, is to be showcased at the festival over the Bank Holiday weekend.
David Hartley, managing director of The Wensleydale Creamery, said: "The festival is held in the very heart of Wensleydale and attracts hundreds of visitors.
"As a committed supporter of the rural economy, we wanted to further strengthen that commitment by previewing our latest cheese recipe on home territory.
"We want to give them the opportunity to taste this new great recipe before it appears on the shelves in the shops."
The Wensleydale Creamery employs 198 people makes 3,300 tonnes of cheese a year and it recently spent £360,000 in new cheese blending, cutting and packing equipment.
This year the Dales Festival of Food and Drink takes place on May 2, 3 and 4 from 10am to 5pm in Leyburn.
