A SCHEME to improve Thirsk’s taxi rank is moving ahead with talks between local councils taking place to find a solution.
Hambleton District Council initially looked to double the amount of spaces available for use on the taxi rank in the market place to six cars.
Local councillors though requested a meeting at the rank, with taxi operators, in order to consider other options.
The meeting decided that it was impracticable to double the rank’s size but minor signage and road marking changes have taken place.
Talks between the district and North Yorkshire County Council over further improvements are still being held.
