Crook Town Council Steering Group held its annual general meeting at 7pm on Thursday.
Jean Cowing was re-elected as chairman with Andrew Hall and Ann Carrick both elected as vice chairman.
The group have collected 800 signatures for the petition to create a town council, 100 short of their target of ten per cent of the electorate.
