ONE man was taken to hospital tonight suffering from head injuries after a two-vehicle smash in Hamsterley, near Consett.
The man, who had to be freed from the wreckage by firefighters using cutting equipment, was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham.
The collision happened in Axford Terrace at 9.17pm.
Two fire crews responded and after freeing the injured man, the made both vehicles safe.
