POLICE are hoping a pet dog could lead them to a driver who drove his car into a line of parked vehicles early today. The golden labrador was picked up in the Byerley Road area of Shildon, County Durham, morning after a red Ford Mondeo hit two vehicles on the roadside near the Timothy Hackworth Primary School.
People woken soon after midnight by the noise of the crash saw the driver and the dog get out of the Mondeo and run off towards Diamond Street.
As officers searched the area the labrador came back. It was being cared for in council kennels yesterday.
Police appealed for information about the dog and the driver yesterday. Contact PC Andrew Turner at Shildon police station, telephone 0345-60-60-365.
