A TEAM of fundraisers went the extra mile when they carried a stretcher to raise a laugh and charity cash at a Family Fun Run at Kirkleatham.
The two Redcar and Cleveland Council's community protection officers (CPOs) were joined by officers from South Bank Neighbourhood Police for the arduous task.
The inspiration for the effort in aid of James Cook University Hospital's haematology day unit and the Great North Air Ambulance came from CPOs Louise Dobson and Donna Morris.
Louise's partner, Chris and Donna's son, Lewis had both been diagnosed with aggressive forms of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma within the last year, but, thankfully due to the excellent care received, both are now in remission.
The pair, who were joined by colleagues Amanda Fowell and Johnathan Jefferson and PCSOs Wendy Sewell, Mathew Beavers, Paul Walker and PC Carl Wooding, hope to raise around £600.
