A CHARITY is offering young people free heart checks to see if they suffer from hidden but potentially fatal problems.
Anyone aged 14 to 35 will be able to get tested at a specially-built mobile testing unit operated by CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) that will be in the car park of the Tesco store in Rennys Lane on the city’s Dragonville Industrial Estate on Sunday May 3.
The checks are being offered as part of the CRY Philips Test My Heart Tour 09, which aims to reduce the number of undiagnosed heart conditions that can cause Sudden Death Syndrome or Sudden Cardiac Death in apparently fit and healthy young people.
A doctor with a team of cardiac physicians will be present for each screening at the mobile unit, which was donated by the health and well-being company Philips. Testing should take no longer than 30 minutes.
Anyone interested in booking a free appointment or finding out more about other locations on the tour should visit the website www.testmyheart.org
