A SERIES of exhibitions has been held to tell visitors about the workings of a heritage railway.
The events have taken place in supermarkets in Ripon, Boroughbridge, Bedale and Richmond over recent weekends.
Team leader Rod Morris organises outreach events for the railway with a team of volunteers from across the North of England.
From May 2 to 4, over Bank Holiday weekend, all trains on the Wensleydale Railway will be diesel loco-hauled.
Although this will mean slight amendments to the standard timetable, the first train each day will always depart at 09.50 and there will be no increase in fares.
Indeed, a saving of £3 per adult and £1 per child can be made by those travelling to Leyburn for the Dales Food and Drink Festival, if they book a combined ticket, for train fare and entry to the festival field by Tuesday.
Call 08454-50-54-74 to book.
The next special event will be held on Tuesday, May 19, when a seven-mile Wildflower Guided Walk will be led from a station on the railway.
