TWO villages will compete in a football tournament in memory of a cancer victim who died six years ago.
Sacriston and Langley Park, neighbouring communities in County Durham, will play the event at the Sacriston Welfare Ground at noon on Saturday May 2.
The contest in aid of charity began after the death of Mary Hayton, of Sacriston, who died aged 42.
After Mary’s death, her friends and family set up a memorial fund in her name to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The fund has raised about £20,000 since it was set up.
The latest event will see the Sacriston WMC over 40s take on the Langley Park WMC Over 40s.
The match will be followed by a night time of entertainment at the Sacriston WMC with a group quiz and raffle - doors will open at 6.30pm.
Tickets are £3 and are available from Eileen Jones on 0191-373-4959 or from WMC committee members.
