CHILDREN at Overfields Primary School, Ormesby are joining in the worldwide Send My Friend To School 2009 campaign.
Redcar and Cleveland Council's Mayor Councillor Mike Findley will join the children in a Big Read Event at the school tomorrow and prepare a message to Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Headteacher Tracy Watson explained: "The children were shocked to discover that 75 million children in the world still do not have the opportunity to go to school.
"Our children believe that they have a responsibility to speak out for the rights of those children and they realise the importance of looking at wider global issues."
Redcar MP Vera Baird has also sent a letter of support and a message to send with the childrens to Gordon Brown, who will share their thoughts on why education is so important.
