COMMUNITY groups have been given the chance to apply to a funding pot, totalling over £350,000.

The Redcar and Cleveland Partnership has launched its Voluntary Sector Investment Fund and its Community Small Grants Fund for 2009.

Groups have two options - applying for grants from £150 to £5,000 from the Community Small Grants Fund and from £5,000 for the Voluntary Sector Investment Fund.

Last year, 34 organisations received grants of between £500 and £82,000.

Professor Brian Footitt, chairman of the Partnership, said: "Even in these pressing times, we should still assist and invest in those voluntary and community organisations.

"They provide extremely valuable activities and services in their neighbourhoods and the Partnership is very happy to provide these funds again in 2009."

Application forms and guidance notes for both funds are available from Ray Walker, External Funding Co-ordinator, Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, Town Hall, Fabian Road, South Bank, TS6 9AR, 01642-444616.

They can also be downloaded from the Redcar & Cleveland Partnership website rclsp.co.uk under the External Funds page. Closing date for applications is Friday, May 8.
