PLANS for a one-off "mega market" that could help boost a town’s economy have been discussed.
Town councillors in Bedale have agreed to set up a sub-committee to investigate the possibility of setting up the larger-than-normal market, in the town.
A provisional date for the market has been set for May next year.
The success of an event would be dependent on encouraging other market stall holders into the town, perhaps providing other attractions.
Concerns over parking were raised and the question of whether sufficient interest from stall holders would be forthcoming was discussed.
Members raised the possibility of using Bedale Park as a temporary car park during the event.
