CHARITY organisers urged shoppers to help beat cancer and save lives at the weekend.
Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life team took their roadshow to Dalton Park shopping centre to persuade shoppers to enter the 5km event this summer.
Holly Howey, North-East event manager for Race for Life, said: “Many women put off entering Race for Life because they think they won’t be able to complete the 5km course. But we know that women often cover several kilometres on an average shopping trip, without even realising it.
“Women everywhere are invited to take part in Race for Life and fundraise, regardless of their age, shape, size and fitness level. They can walk, jog or run the 5km course and revel in Race for Life’s unique atmosphere of sisterhood.
“Our message to all North-East women who might be thinking about taking part in Race for Life is very simple: walk it, run it, just don’t skip it.”
Nine Race for Life events will take place in the region, with places still available at Sunderland on May 10, Hartlepool on June 7, Darlington on June 14 and Durham on July 5. To enter, visit raceforlife.
