A MAN had to be rescued by firefighters after falling down a 30 foot drop.
The incident happened yesterday (Monday) evening at Ayers Quay Road in Deptford, Sunderland.
The 35 year old man is believed to have fallen over a wall and dropped 30 feet.
Firefighters from Sunderland and a rope rescue team from Hebburn attended the incident.
He was located by firefighters in some bushes and was freed from them with a saw.
He was then lowered a further 20 feet to the quayside.
The man was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital with a suspected broken ankle and injuries to his wrists and ribs.
